All of Auderghem enjoys our free Christmas tree delivery, from the flats of Chaussée de Wavre to the Rouge-Cloître, on the edge of the Sonian Forest. According to Brussels Environment, the former priory once had some fifteen ponds, and the listed site is part of the Natura 2000 network. An art centre now occupies part of the priory’s old farm.

From workers’ houses to forest villas

In Auderghem, the Sonian Forest covers a large part of the territory, to the south-east. It is above all a municipality of houses: nearly nine in ten residential buildings, according to IBSA. Workers’ houses and flats huddle around Chaussée de Wavre, the historic thoroughfare where shops and restaurants are concentrated; the villas, for their part, line the edge of the forest. According to the 2011 census cited by IBSA, one home in five here has seven rooms or more: such generous spaces call for the Nordmann fir, available up to 4 m. For a ceiling of 2.50 m, we would rather suggest 175 to 200 cm.

Originally, the municipality was no more than a farm attached to Watermael, nestled in a clearing of the Woluwe valley. The hamlet that grew from it was home to peasants, woodcutters and broom makers. According to the municipality, Chaussée de Wavre, built in 1726, ended its isolation, and it became an independent municipality in 1863. The trees Vert Sapin selects grow about a hundred kilometres from Brussels: they are sourced from a certified organic grower, a Belgian family that has worked the same land for three generations.

Your frequently asked questions

Can I get a Christmas tree delivered in Auderghem?
Yes: everywhere in Auderghem (1160), delivery is free, with no minimum order, evenings and weekends included. It covers Auderghem-Centre, Saint-Julien along Chaussée de Wavre, Transvaal, Pinoy, Val Duchesse, Blankedelle and the Auderghem side of Chant d’Oiseau. You pick the day and time slot yourself in the basket; the driver then hands over your tree, in its net, at your door. If he finds nobody in, a free redelivery is arranged with you.
From Auderghem, where can I go to choose my Christmas tree?
Place Wiener, in Watermael-Boitsfort: that’s where we run the stall nearest to Auderghem. There, you see the trees for yourself and choose yours; it leaves wrapped, and a small size fits in a car boot. Tram 8 links Watermael-Boitsfort with Auderghem; check the stop and the route with STIB. You can also order online and have it delivered free.
In Auderghem, how do I get rid of my tree once the holidays are over?
The simplest way is still the pavement: when Bruxelles-Propreté comes for the garden waste in your street, it also takes real Christmas trees, without pot or decorations. Alternatively, its Recypark at 1860 Chaussée de Wavre accepts garden waste free of charge if it is tied in bundles or bagged: so cut your tree into pieces. Bruxelles-Propreté reserves this Recypark for private residents of Auderghem and three neighbouring municipalities.
