Our van brings Christmas trees free of charge to Forest, where IBSA finds that close to one residential building in three is a block of flats, against fewer than one in four across the Region. The others are mostly terraced houses, some divided into several homes; and, again according to IBSA, three residential buildings in four date from before 1946. In such a mixed housing stock, the ceiling settles it: at 2.50 m, we advise 175 to 200 cm, and one notch down below 2.40 m.

From the Altitude Cent plateau to the Senne valley

The municipality lives on two levels. The lower part, on the edge of the Senne valley and marked by its industrial past, gained workers’ houses and Art Deco apartment buildings between the wars, then large blocks of flats. The upper part is a residential plateau: Place de l’Altitude Cent, where, according to the heritage inventory, eight streets converge on the church of Saint-Augustin, and the Messidor garden city. In a large block of flats, the Nordmann fir, which keeps its needles for 4 to 5 weeks, spares the stairwell. In a worker’s house, the Norway spruce, whose scent fills the room as the Nordmann’s does not, brings tradition.

Around Place Saint-Denis

From Place Saint-Denis, laid out on the old village green (the dries) where the village cattle once grazed, to the streets of Bas Forest, the driver hands over your tree at your door, delivered netted. In a block of flats or a split house, he often brings it up to your landing, without being able to guarantee it; our home service can set it up and decorate it, on quote. To feel the needles before choosing, our Watermael-Boitsfort stall welcomes you on Place Wiener: your tree is wrapped there, and a small size makes it back to Forest in a boot.

Once the holidays are over, Bruxelles-Propreté collects your real tree during its garden waste collection, but sends artificial ones to its Recyparks, two of which are in the municipality. Our blog sets out other options for a tree’s life after Christmas.

Your frequently asked questions

Can I get a Christmas tree delivered in Forest?
Yes, your Christmas tree comes free of charge to every part of Forest (1190), from Altitude Cent and the Messidor garden city to Place Saint-Denis and Bas Forest. No minimum order, no surcharge for evenings or weekends. When ordering, you book time slot and day; on your doorstep, the driver then gives you your tree, in its net, ready to set up. Be there, or ask someone to receive it: otherwise, we’ll contact you to set up a free redelivery.
In Forest, will my tree be carried up to my flat?
Delivery as planned ends at the threshold of the building, where the driver hands you the tree in its net; in reality, he tends to carry it up to the flat, but this isn’t guaranteed. Worth knowing in Forest, where, according to IBSA, nearly one residential building in three is a block of flats, and where some houses contain several homes. To have it put up and decorated in your living room, our home service can quote for it. Think of the Nordmann fir too: its soft needles don’t prickle when you carry it up the stairwell.
After Christmas, where does my tree go in Forest?
In the streets of Forest, it is Bruxelles-Propreté that takes your tree away, during the garden waste collection: put it out on that day only, against your front wall, leaving the pavement clear for passers-by, without pot or decorations (it can keep its wooden cross stand). Artificial trees aren’t included: Bruxelles-Propreté directs them to its Recyparks, two of which are in Forest, on Boulevard de la Deuxième Armée Britannique and Boulevard de l’Humanité.
