In Berchem-Sainte-Agathe, your Christmas tree travels free of charge all the way up to the Zavelenberg plateau in the north, and down into the hollow of the Molenbeek valley in the south. According to Brussels Environment, the rugged terrain of the Zavelenberg is man-made: from the Middle Ages, beds of calcareous sandstone embedded in sand were quarried there, hence its name, “sand mountain”. Our free delivery with no minimum order arrives on the day and in the time slot booked when you ordered, and the driver hands you the tree at your door, from Cité Moderne to Korenbeek.

The Wilder regrew on its own, your tree was grown

To the south, near the cemetery, the Wilder wood, broken up by post-war urban development, has partly regrown naturally, according to Brussels Environment. Your tree, on the other hand, comes from a certified organic grower, a Belgian family farm some hundred kilometres from Berchem. According to IBSA, the share of couples with children here is the highest in the Region: the Nordmann fir, the most popular, keeps soft needles, so little hands won’t get pricked. Back from a walk in the Wilder, the Norway spruce brings the woods indoors: it is the spruce, not the Nordmann, that fills the house with its scent.

A municipality of houses: which height to choose?

Berchem-Sainte-Agathe is above all a municipality of houses: according to IBSA, terraced houses dominate, detached houses are rare, and homes have more rooms than the Brussels average. In these houses, as in the flats of Hunderenveld, everything starts with the ceiling: if it measures 2.50 m, we recommend a Nordmann or a Norway spruce of 175 to 200 cm; when it drops below 2.40 m, the size below. For a large tree in a semi-detached house in Potaarde, our home service sets it up and then decorates it, on quote.

According to IBSA, Berchem households are more likely to own a car than the Brussels average. If you drive, go and choose your tree at the stall on Place Saint-Antoine, in Etterbeek: wrapped on the spot, a small one rides home to Berchem in the boot.
