In Saint-Gilles (1060), your Christmas tree is delivered free, whether you live in a whole house or a flat in a split house. According to IBSA, two-façade terraced houses dominate the municipality, semi-detached and detached houses are absent, and many of these houses have been split into flats, often small ones. IBSA dates the great majority of residential buildings to 1900 to 1918, a share no other Brussels municipality reaches.

Behind a Saint-Gilles façade, measure before you choose

In the early 20th century, according to the heritage inventory, apartment buildings of four to five storeys joined the townhouses, with façades akin to theirs. From the pavement, a façade doesn’t always tell you whether it hides a house or flats, nor how high your ceilings are: measure that height. At 2.50 m, a tree of 175 to 200 cm is our advice, and the size below under 2.40 m.

According to IBSA, small homes are more common in Saint-Gilles than in the rest of the Region. In a small living room, where you brush past the tree every time you go by, the Nordmann fir has soft needles on its side: they don’t prickle and last 4 to 5 weeks. And in the least green municipality in the Region according to IBSA, only the Norway spruce, of our two trees, scents the room.

From the upper town to the Midi area

In the upper part of the municipality as in the lower, down to the grid of the Midi area with its streets parallel to the railway tracks, the driver brings your tree, in its net, to your door. While he often carries it up to the floor of a split house, this isn’t guaranteed; to set up and decorate the tree in your home, our home service steps in on quote.

To choose it yourself, head for Watermael-Boitsfort: our stall stands on Place Wiener, and tram 8, which runs along Avenue Louise on the eastern edge of Saint-Gilles, serves the Wiener stop without a change.

Your frequently asked questions

Can I get a Christmas tree delivered in Saint-Gilles?
Yes. Around Le Parvis, at La Barrière, in the Bosnie area, in the Midi area as in the Louise area: everywhere in Saint-Gilles (1060), delivery is free, with no minimum order. Delivery day and time slot: you choose them yourself when ordering. The driver then hands you the tree netted at your door, whether you live in a whole house or a flat in a split house; if he finds nobody in, he comes back free of charge, at a time agreed with you.
My flat is upstairs in a split house in Saint-Gilles: is the tree carried up?
The driver brings it, netted, to the front door: that’s what the delivery includes. In practice, he often carries it up, without guarantee. In Saint-Gilles, many houses are split into flats and, according to the heritage inventory, the early 20th-century apartment buildings have four to five storeys: so be prepared, if need be, to carry it up yourself. In a narrow stairwell, a Nordmann fir is easier to carry: even held close, it doesn’t prickle, because its needles are soft. Otherwise, our home service can, on quote, set up and decorate the tree in your home.
I live in Saint-Gilles: where can I choose my Christmas tree in person?
Our stall is on Place Wiener, in Watermael-Boitsfort, and tram 8, which runs along Avenue Louise on the eastern edge of Saint-Gilles, takes you straight there, without a change, to the Wiener stop. There, you choose between the Nordmann fir and the Norway spruce; we wrap the tree you pick, and a small size slips into a car boot. You can also order online and have it delivered free to your door.
